Metamaterial Diffractive Optics

Abstract: As metamaterials press towards the optical, viable application areas are needed that are a good match to the enlarged palette of controlled material response that metamaterials provide. Diffractive optics represent potentially such a match, in that the capability to engineer precise gradients is an advantage, while the entire structure can be thin, mitigating overall insertion losses.
